The Seasons at the Oxbo

SUMMER: Summer offers many things to do in the Flambeau River State Forest. Whatever your preference, whether it be canoeing, fishing, atv'ing, hiking, or just plan relaxing, the Oxbo Resort has it all. The Flambeau River is a canoeist's dream come true. Whether you want to float down the river or if rapids are your thing, the Flambeau River has it all. The Oxbo Resort offers canoe rentals and shuttles of your canoe or ours, boat and kayak rentals. ATV from your cabin or campsite, hike the many trails in the Flambeau River State Forest adjacent to the resort or simply relax in a lawn chair by the river and forget the hassles of home. Don't forget to mark your calenders for Oxbo Daze, the blowout that Dave and Jean host, to mark the end of what was probably a great summer.

FALL: Fall brings different things to do at the Oxbo Resort. Canoeing is still popular, especially in September when the leaves along the river are ablaze with color. ATV'ing is especially popular in September and October when the woods are alive with the changes that Fall brings. Hunting is great when you base your hunt from the Oxbo. We are located in the Flambeau River State Forest, over 90,000 acres of public land to hunt grouse, bear, deer, or rabbits. Adjacent to the Flambeau River State Forest and just within 2-1/2 miles of Oxbo is the Chewaumegon National Forest, a hunters paradise.

WINTER: Winter is a magical time at Oxbo. The snow and pine trees combine to make Oxbo a "living Christmas card". Snowmobile right from your warm and cozy cabin on over 800 miles of groomed trails in Sawyer County and over 500 miles of groomed trails in Price County. Gas and oil, for your sled, are available on the resort. Prefer the quiet sports of winter? Oxbo offers cross-country ski rentals and snowshoe rentals. The Flambeau River State Forest grooms over 21 miles of cross-country ski trails right out your back door.

SPRING: May brings the world famous International Wood Tick Race to the Oxbo Resort, to celebrate spring's arrival. Likened to the Kentucky Derby or Indy 500, the event brings people from all around to vie for the championship title. Bring your tick, find one there or pick one up from the Oxbo stables. Spring also brings the warm weather and with that, comes the chance to canoe the Flambeau. Fishing also takes off in the springtime, along with hiking and Memorial Day Weekend marks the official start to a summer of fun and memories.
